Poker Run Fundraiser

(Apologies to Sonja and the Fundraisers on the late posting of these photos - Webmaster)

On October 19th, Stu Dunbar and the Independent Ryders made SAP Rescue the recipients of their Poker Run. It was held in Bradford VT and it was a very chilly day! Thanks to the folks that turned out to ride for SAP Rescue and The Bradford Fairgrounds.

Sonja would also like to thank Chris, Ed and Mary Wood, three siblings who braved the elements to ride in to support SAP Rescue. For Mary that meant a long ride from Tilton NH & for Chris from Plymouth, NH in 20 degree weather on their bikes Sunday morning. Ed Wood is an avid SAP supporter and has a SAP cat that he helped to rescue in 2007 from a parking lot in Bradford, VT. Thank You Ed for all your support and help and getting your sisters to help ride for the cause.

And thank you Melissa, Alex and Renn for standing out in the cold and supporting SAP Rescue Sunday morning. Renn was a perfect representative of our adoptable dogs from the Save A Pet Program. Enjoy the photos...

OCTOBER DOGS and PUPPIES!

We're experimenting with a new format to share photos. Rather than having a slide show with all the animals, we've broken them down into "Albums." The images below are just the "Album Cover." If you click on the image you will go the the whole album, where you can click on photos to see larger versions and you can read notes about each dog from their foster families.

Please be sure to contact Sonja Moore 802-457-2608 if you are interested in adoption, or email her at saprescue@yahoo.com

Dixie's Chicks

What a lovely groups of pups!
Dixie was a black Benji type dog who came up on the last transport. She whelped the pups here in Vermont and we have carefully helped her raise them. They are wonderful pups! Dixie is headed off to a new home with one of her pups, but we are still looking for homes for the four black pups. They are 8 weeks old, have had their first shots and are ready to go. Our best guess is that their dad was a lab mix.

Please contact Sonja at saprescue@yahoo.com if you are interested in adoption.

Bridgewater Vermont Elementary School

Proceeds Benefit SAP Rescue’s New Shelter Building Project

Neil will show how you can learn to work with your dog’s natural instincts in order to bring out their best behavior. If you’re looking for a way to transform your relationship with your dog into one that’s truly based on trust, as well as love, come take a look at the Natural Dog Training Method.

Neil Sattin is the author of NaturalDogBlog.com, the most complete online reference for Natural Dog Training. He apprenticed with Kevin Behan (the creator of Natural Dog Training) in the summer of 2004, and has since helped many dogs and owners reach a new level of human-canine understanding. In particular, he loves watching people “get it” – the moment when they can see the world through their dog’s eyes, and the transformations in their dog’s behavior that typically follow. Neil resides in Portland, Maine, with his wife and son.

We have space for 10 dog and handler teams, and unlimited space for attendees without dogs. Due to the intense nature of the work we will be doing, attending without a dog is a great opportunity to focus and observe, as well as practice exercises without the distraction of caring for your canine companion.

While the Natural Dog Training method is suitable for dogs with aggression issues, for the safety of all our workshop attendees prior approval is required.

Neil will be available for PRIVATE SESSIONS at the rate of $40 per half hour and $70 per hour, on Sunday the 18th. Neil’s time is limited, so be sure to reserve your space early with Sonja.

Wonderful bag lunches from the Woodstock Farmer’s Market may be ordered in advance for $10.

Bowler/Jack and the Most Recent Transport

Check out this beautiful dog!

Bowler/Jack is now in foster care in Vermont. He has his very own blog (CLICK HERE) so you can learn more about this handsome, wonderful dog.

Our last transport was very successful, a terrific load of puppies, young dogs and a few cats. Be sure to check our Shelters Connections link for dogs that are still available. Bowler/Jack is the only dog left available for adoption directly from SAP.

NEXT TRANSPORT ORGANIZED

The next transport for SAP from Gloucester, VA is scheduled to arrive in Vermont on March 9, 2008 late in the evening.

Dogs and pups will be available for pickup on the morning of the 10th and delivered to shelters on the afternoon of the 10th.

All shelters on our Vermont Shelter Connections page will be getting animals from this transport, so be sure to check with them after the arrival of the load as well. None of them pre-adopt, so you will have to be patient. Several of them are getting puppies too.

We do pre-screen adoptions prior to the load's arrival for the animals that we have chosen to adopt out ourselves. Their pictures will be posted on our Petfinder page until we find what we feel is the best situation for them.

Please read the Adoption Policies & Health Policies sections for more specifics. Thanks for your interest, an adopted rescue will spend its lifetime thanking you for the opportunity!

Peggy Update

Thank you to everyone who responded to our need for assistance with Peggy! We have a happy ending! Peggy successfully made it through corrective surgery and was adopted by a veterinary technician at the hospital that performed the surgery. We are grateful for the generosity of the surgical team and look forward to hearing update from her new home.
